Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to become a professional ballet dancer. However, after watching her sister Katie at The Ladies Room movie set, Emily was captivated by acting. She started taking acting classes, and also landed guest spots on TV series in her homeland Canada. Her appearances have been in a number of programs, including Are You Scared of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp achieved a major breakthrough in his career after getting a role on Glory Days, the WB mystery horror show. Although the show received positive review, the show's low ratings caused it to be ended after nine short episodes. In spite of her May 12th, 1986 birth date she was offered the role of Everwood with the character Amy Abbott. Her role in the film brought her 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations and a Young Artist Award.
